August 13, 1966-October 15, 2006 Sgt. Brock Babb, 40, of Evansville, was killed Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. in Fallujah, Iraq. Sgt. Babb was employed as a sheet metal worker for National Sheet Metal. He was a 1984 graduate of Reitz High School, a member of Simpson United Methodist Church and attended St. Agnes Catholic Church. Brock was also a member of the National Rifle Association, Reitz Wrestling Booster Club, Big Blue Boosters, R-Men's Club, West Side Sportsman Club and was a life member of VFW Post 1114. He served as commissioner of the Evansville Junior Football League and coached wrestling at Tekoppel Grade School and F. J. Reitz High School and soccer at Moutoux Park. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Wargel) Babb; two sons, Tanner and Levi and his daughter, Zoie; his parents, Susan (Hubbard) and Terry Babb; his sister, Nikki Babb Turner and her husband, Mark; his brother, B. Jay Babb and his wife, Sarah; and his grandmother, Fern Babb, all of Evansville. His niece and nephews, Alec and Rileigh Turner and Brock Liam Babb; his father-in-law, John E. Wargel and his brother-in-law, John W. Wargel, also survive him. His grandparents, Dannie Babb, Byron and Marjorie Hubbard and his mother-in-law, Joyce Wargel, preceded him in death. Funeral services for Sgt. Babb will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 418 N. Wabash Ave., Rev. Terry Gamblin and Rev. David Nunning officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may visit with the family from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the National Guard Armory in Evansville. There will be no visitation at Pierre Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Old National Bank – Sgt. Brock Babb Children's Fund, any Reitz High School organization or St. Agnes Catholic Church.
