September 25, 1966 - December 9, 2007 Katie (Krouse) Szorcsik, 41, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2007, after a battle with lung cancer at Deaconess Hospital. Katie was a 1984 graduate of F.J. Reitz High School. She was employed as a Quote Specialist with Brown and Brown. Katie's faith, being a devout Catholic, kept her strong throughout her daily struggles. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where she started and headed the SCRIPT Program for three years, and active in the church programs, including Liturgy of the Word, PTO, Room Mother and ChRP3. Katie is survived by her sons, Alex Heichelbach and Drew Heichelbach; daughters, Laurel Szorcsik and Rowan Szorcsik; a sister, Kerry Krouse; a niece, Keesha Stott; and her mother, Jo (Howe) Evans; stepdad, Butch Evans; and grandmother, Juanita Howe, all of Evansville. Besides her wonderful family, she is also survived by a huge support group of friends. Katie is preceded in death by her father, Kendall Krouse; and grandparents, Frank and Mary Krouse, and Leo Howe. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, with Father Paul Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be today, December 11, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 5 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 First Avenue. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 12, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Holy Redeemer. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 6301 Old Boonville Highway, Suite B, Evansville, IN 47715; to Holy Redeemer Building Fund, 918 W. Mill Rd., Evansville, IN 47710; or the Katie Szorcsik Children's Fund at any Fifth Third Bank location. Her family and friends would like to thank Dr. Mark Browning and his staff for all their loving care. Katie has touched many lives and we will all miss her and cherish her memory.
